Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) – The St. Paul Athletic Department announced on Friday that they have joined the Mississippi Valley Conference.
St. Paul Athletic Director and boys basketball coach Justin Ford announced via Facebook the volleyball and boys basketball teams will be new combatants of the now seven-team conference in southeast Missouri.
The Giants will join Eagle Ridge, Leopold, Marquand, Meadow Heights, Oak Ridge, and Zalma.
According to Ford, St. Paul was voted into the conference during the spring sports season, and he will attend his first official conference meeting this week.
Ford adds, “We have been playing most of these conference schools. It’s really neat to make it official and (have) opportunities to compete in conference tournaments and chances for all-conference honors.”
St. Paul has attempted to join the Mineral Area Activities Association (MAAA), Jefferson County Athletic Association (JCAA), and Black River League (BRL) conferences in the past but were previously denied entry.
The Giants volleyball program begins play September 2, at home against South Iron under interim-head coach Andy Sherrill.
