Ste. Genevieve, Mo. (KFMO) - The Valle Catholic Lady Warriors claimed this year's edition of the Old Settlement rivalry matchup, defeating the Ste. Genevieve Dragons in 4 sets, 25-19, 25-27, 25-15, 25-19.
Valle Catholic (4-0) had not dropped a set all season coming into Wednesday's matchup. However, the Dragons (3-4-1), played valiantly, even doing enough to take Set 2 in extra points to be the first to put a dent in the Lady Warriors' season. However, the Lady Warriors proved to be too much to handle, going on long runs and taking large leads that the Dragons just couldn't fully come back from. After winning Set 3 by 10, they'd keep Ste. Genevieve at arm's length the entirety of Set 4 to take their 4th straight win.
Ste. Genevieve have a few days off, they next take on Cape Notre Dame on September 17th. Valle Catholic will try to keep their hot streak going against Jefferson September 12th.
