Blues Rally Late, Beat San Jose in Overtime

(San Jose, CA) The St. Louis Blues scored three goals in the third period to erase a three-goal deficit and beat the San Jose Sharks in overtime, 5-4.

It’s just the second time since the 2001-02 season that the Blues have erased a three, or more, goal deficit and won a game. According to the ESPN Broadcast St. Louis was 1-140-0 in those opportunities before the overtime win.

Radek Faksa and Ryan Suter each scored their first goals as Blues in the third period, and Justin Faulk scored his first of the season with 47 seconds left in regulation. Brayden Schenn ended the game 45 seconds into the extra frame with a wrist shot past Sharks goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood.

Pavel Buchnevich scored in the first tying the game early. Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou had a pair of assists each. Joel Hofer made 25 saves in the win.

St. Louis (2-0-0) wraps up the season opening west coast swing in Las Vegas Friday night against the Vegas Golden Knights. Coverage on B104.3 begins at 8:30pm.
