Cardinals Announce Succession Plan, Bloom to Replace Mozeliak in 2026

(St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis Cardinals have announced a succession plan for the top spot in the organizational front office after the 2025 season, which will be the last for John Mozeliak as the President of Baseball Operations.

In a press conference held Monday, Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr and Mozeliak were joined by Chaim Bloom and Bill DeWitt III to announce the new plan. In the presser, Bloom was announced as the heir to the President of Baseball Operations role beginning in 2026.

Bloom has spent the last nine months evaluating the Cardinals Minor League prospects, coaching and evaluation mechanics. Bloom previously served in a similar role with the Tampa Bay Rays and was the head of baseball operations with the Boston Red Sox.

Mozeliak has been with the St. Louis Cardinals since 1995, and became the 12th General Manager in 2007. He was promoted to the President of Baseball Operations in 2017. The Cardinals have won two World Series, and six NL Central Division titles with Mozeliak at the helm.

The organization also announced that General Manager Mike Girsch has been promoted to Vice President of Special Projects and will no longer be the GM in 2025. While Manager Oliver Marmol will stick around for another season.
